Hand-Painted Cartoon Surfboards

This Jeremy Fish Surfboard is Mixing Surfing with Modern Art

We don't always tend to associate surreal, eye-catching modern art with surf culture but this Jeremy Fish surfboard will make you see how the two worlds could co-exist.

His hand painted UNIV board was made in California. It's got a stubby single fin with a moon tail. The board is functional but that not what's so amazing about it. The surreal monochrome painting turns the board into a realistic-looking dead blue fish who looks like the catch of the day. The fish's body is zipped open to reveal a cartoon-like pirate rabbit with an eye patch hiding inside and floating in the fish's stomach liquid.

The whole board is painted in shades of blue that are reminiscent of ocean waves. Its as if the artist wanted the board to blend in with the water. Perhaps a surfer is as much a part of the ocean as a fish.
