Veil-Inspired Chapels

This Japanese Chapel is a Heavenly Spiritual Space

This stunning Japanese chapel was designed around the concept of a wedding veil. Located in Kamitokoro, Niigata-city along the Shinano River, the St Voile Chapel was built to complement an existing structure to create a larger complex to accommodate weddings.

The breathtaking chapel features white pipes extending upwards toward the arc in a way that resembles waves, creating a fluid whiteout space that is only heightened by the natural light that pours in through the window below the arc. The waves are also complemented by a layer of cloth that also serves to catch natural light and create movement.

This gorgeous Japanese chapel is a great example of self-referential architecture and the power of contemporary spiritual spaces when executed expertly.
