As a means to pay tribute to Caribbean culture, FILA and Alumni of NY collaborated for a shoe design that utilizes the color and imagery of a Jamaican patty.
In order to do this, the sneakers are covered in a bright yellow, mirroring the same color that's found on the pastries. The inner sole of the shoe is brown, a tone that also complements the yellow laces. The white bottoms of the sneakers are adorned with cartoon images of the Caribbean cuisine, with each Jamaican patty shown with bite taken out of it to reveal its brown meat filling.
In doing so, FILA and Alumni of NY make sure to incorporate the Jamaican patty inspiration throughout the entirety of the design. As Jaeki Cho explains, a representative from Alumni of NY, "With this collaboration, our mission was to capture the spirit of the neighborhoods we call home by sharing a treat we eat too often."
