Glass Void Storefronts

This Istanbul Apple Store was Designed by Foster and Partners

British architecture firm Foster + Partners is responsible for an Istanbul Apple Store, located in the city's Zorlu Shopping Center. This store marks the first in a series of spaces that the firm is creating for Apple. It will be followed by a San Francisco location.

Sitting underneath the shopping center's main plaza, this two-storey shop is situated inside of an 18-meter void that was originally going to hold a water feature. The architects created a frameless glass box to place above the void, making the store's presence known to shoppers, who are able to peer into the store below.

The store continues in the tradition of its now-trademarked "distinctive design and layout," which are comprised of rectangular tables and glass storefronts.
