Insempra, a biotech innovator, has launched its first product: a bio-technically produced, 100% alpha-Ionone flavor and fragrance ingredients for the food and beauty markets. The new ingredient comes as a result of a partnership wth German brand Axxence Aromatic, which has focused on marketing the product to manufacturers.
"With the launch of this superior alpha-Ionone aroma, Insempra is demonstrating its unique approach to technology onboarding, scaling and rapid go-to-market capabilities in the delivery of the next generation of sustainable, biotechnologically produced functional ingredients," said Insempra CEO and founder Jens Klein.
Alpha-Ionone is commonly found in essential oils derived from raspberries, almonds, and other natural sources. However, racemic alpha-Ionone is "more defined and purer," making it ideal for food and fragrance applications. More often than not, chemically manufactured aroma replicas are what is commonly used for consumer goods, making Insempra's product highly attractive to premium brands.
