Want to spice up your beer drinking experience? Warsteiner's chili-flavoured beer will do the trick!
Germans are known worldwide for making a good brew, making it a great country for trend spotting in the beer industry. Warsteiner, one of Germany's leading beer brands, is offering a series of bottled beer in unique flavours like Lemon, Orange, caffeinated Cola and, my favourite, spicy Chili con Lemon.
Many pubs, restaurants and bars are serving the fun drinks which range in alcoholic content from 2,9% vol to 4,8%. Their marketing during the Euro 2008 has been successful, with many people opting for the novel flavors as they cheer on team Deutschland in soccer.
They're marketed to younger demographics, hence their lower alcohol content, but adults enjoy sipping on them too. Warsteiner paid special attention to the bottle design after realizing most people now opt to drink straight from their long-neck rather than dirty a glass. A lot of emphasis was put on the branding, with details like 3D style text.
There's also a "Limited Club Edition" bottle which has fluorescent details on the label that glow under black lights. It looks really neat on the Lemon flavoured bottles when paired with the pale greenish yellow colour of the beer itself.
I had a chance to try the Chili con Lemon flavour while in Hamburg last week, and was pleasantly surprised. The beer is easy to drink and doesn't burn; instead, it leaves a tongue-tingling after taste. It's the perfect drink to pair with salty snacks, although I'm not sure it would be the best quencher when seeking relief from hot wings.
