Inca Boot Company Employs Craftspeople in Peru

Founded in the summer of 2004, Inca Boot Company is a social business based in Austin, Texas that offers footwear made in Peru by craftspeople who are paid fair wages. The designs are made with materials such as sued, leather and lambskin.

"We feel that the best way to 'give' is to provide opportunities for people to work and hone their crafts," CEO Evan Streusand told Given Goods Co. In other words, this fashion-focused company isn't about a one-for-one model, or a business model based on donations, which are essentially hand-outs, but rather, it strives to create a sustainable model that promotes economic development, which in turn can foster human development.
