The Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival is an annual event in China that showcases incredible snow sculptures. Around this time of year in Habin, the temperatures drop to about -15°F and ice from the Songhua River is used as the basis for the gigantic ice sculptures.
This year, photographer Hong Wu captured some of the impressive sculptures from the 2013 festival. This includes massive T-Rexes, wooly mammoths and a snowy replica of Barcelona’s Sagrada Família Cathedral. Some of the other sculptures that resemble buildings can even be climbed on.
To make things even more interesting this year, some of the sculptures are illuminated with LED lights at night, which adds another dimension of beauty to the snow sculptures.
