Called 'Blank,' the piece of furniture is designed to be a middle point between a sofa and a bed, according to Hyung. Though the far side of the furnishing has a backrest, the horizontal cushion is a single piece of material, and it is wide enough to lie down comfortably.
Hyung Suk Cho's Blank was initially inspired by traditional, rustic Korean shapes. These come from Hyung's own experience as well as from Korean paintings. Hyung borrowed the concept of negative space that is common in Korean painting to inspire the design.
The daybed is inspired by tradition, but it is designed for the modern home. According to Hyung, "Blank has two aspects, it's modern but also classic."
