In honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, taxi technology company Uber is partnering with different charitable organizations fighting against sexual slavery. This is in an effort to encourage Uber drivers to report suspected slavery victims.
Their "commitment to disrupt human trafficking" involves partnering with non-profit group Polaris Project to promote resources and a hotline to report suspected trafficking. In the United States, all Uber drives can expect to receive in-app messages about human trafficking awareness including the hotline. The on-demand juggernaut is also working with Thorn -- an organization started by Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore that uses technology to prevent the spread of sexual slavery and child pornography online.
This is an example of how companies in the tourism industry can do their part and fight for human rights.
