'HOSPI(R)' describes an autonomous delivery robot from Panasonic that's now being tested in different parts of the hospitality and travel industry in Japan.
Earlier this month, Panasonic conducted a trial of HOSPI(R) at the ANA Crowne Plaza Narita. The robot moved around the lobby, delivered drinks from its built-in fridge and provided bus departure schedules to guests. Now, the bot us being used at the travel lounge in the Narita Airport, specifically for the purposes of collecting used tableware and returning them to a counter.
As suggested by its name, HOSPI(R) is intended for use in healthcare and has been adopted by four hospitals. However, the bot's ability to navigate its environment and perform simple tasks makes it valuable for a number of different purposes, as recent tests have shown.
