Panasonic has recently unveiled the HOSPI-Rimo, a robot designed to "support people who need assistance to lead safe, comfortable and pleasant lives," according to the company's press release.
What the HOSPI-Rimo actually does is provide communication between the patients and their doctors and family members. The android has a screen that allows for video conferencing so that even after visiting hours, speaking to loved ones can still be possible. With high-definition visual communications technology from Panasonic, it'll make it seem as if patients are communicating with the individual face-to-face. What's really interesting about the HOSPI-Rimo is that it has an automated medication delivery system, which is currently being used in Japan right now.
Hopefully the HOSPI-Rimo will be available worldwide soon on a reasonable price.
