Most of the subway stations that I have seen are pretty dingy looking, but the Hoshakuji Station in Japan provides eye-pleasing aesthetics for all its visitors.
Hoshakuji Station has a geometric ceiling made entirely from plywood that makes it look like the Mercedes Benz of subway stations. Built in an abandoned rice house, the designers of the Hoshakuji Station wanted to create a warm, comforting feeling through the diamond-patterned wooden design.
