Hood Design Studio Creates a New Campus in Silicon Valley

Oakland-based landscape company Hood Design Studio creates a unique new structure that resembles two treehouses that are paneled with a large photovoltaic trellis over the campus of a software company. This is located in Silicon Valley and rests on a four-acre site resting just between two buildings.

It is made as an outdoor working space for those at NVIDIA with elevated platforms in the middle complete with wooden benches to invite a more dynamic working experience. Du Solier explains the design project, stating that "The large trellis is much like a tree. A structure that opens up and out rather than focused inward. Two types of red oaks and cultivars specific to this area were chosen for their low branching to create a treed landform at eye level."
