The Homestead Market opened on January 12th of 2019 which was the culmination of a two-year process. The storefront sells a number of different pasture-raised meats from a family farm. The Homestead Market also sells dairy products and baked goods.
The family has a background selling GMO-free, grass-fed beef at farmer's markets however, the family looked to open a physical location. Lucinda Gingerich is one of the owners of Homestead Market, and she spoke about the progression of the business, "We’ve tried a couple ratty trailer ideas, and nothing has worked great, so finally we just bite the bullet and did it right."
The store features a similar layout that consumers are used to from conventional grocery stores. The location has transparent freezers and refrigerators for consumers to look through, as well as a to-go food counter.
Overall the store offers consumers more natural meat products, which they could value over processed meat alternatives.
