'Sou Fujimoto Architects,' the architectural design studio owned by renowned Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, has unveiled the 'Hida Furukawa Station Eastern Development' project. This project is a large, circular community-center-style building with a unique shape. The edges of the center will be raised, while the center will be the lowest point, essentially resembling an inverted dome.
The roof of the structure will be covered in grass with various circular cut-ins for buildings and developments. The entire project is estimated to be 21,300 square meters, or approximately 70,000 square feet. Within the community center there will be a diverse range of attractions from spas, shops, and exhibitions, to universities, research centers, and energy generators. There will be staircases around each development to access the roof, where individuals will be able to walk upwards toward the sun and experience the beauty of Hida, Japan.
