Part sculpture, part furniture piece, Henry Baumann's recent work is worthy of being placed in an art gallery. Especially since they are not made out of a typical material. Instead, Henry Baumann has upcycled discarded cable spools to create them. To know that the horn-like seat and colossal lampshade were once the holders of electrical metal is almost mind-boggling.
A recent graduate, Henry Baumann is based in Wichita, Kansas. Since his final project, he has dedicated further research into changing materials and objects. As written on his website, "In his projects, Baumann reflects upon our patterns of consumption and the way we deal with waste.[...] It is not only in the creation of the latest new product that Baumann sees the challenge of doing something with everything there is."
