There are certain materials that industries should be trying to work with on a regular basis, and the Hemp Chair is an example of one such material. Made out of hemp, a renewable and raw natural fiber, it is lightweight, strong and eco-friendly.
Created by Berlin-based designer Werner Aisslinger, the Hemp Chair debuted during the exhibition Poetry Happens in Milan’s Ventura Lambrate district. A first of its kind, this project was supported by the German chemical company BASF.
The Hemp Chair is a great piece of furniture that promotes a well-balanced, healthy lifestyle in which you are surrounded by environmentally friendly home decor. As Aisslinger sees it, the Hemp Chair represents how "design history is driven by new technologies and material innovation. For us designers, the advent of these technologies has always been the starting point for new objects and typologies in design."
