Unlikely Athlete Pop Covers

The Harvard Athletes ‘Call Me Maybe' Clip is Hilarious

The Harvard baseball team’s talents lay not just in their athletic skills, but also in their musical ones as well. The Harvard University baseball team recently released their musical debut of Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit ‘Call Me Maybe.’ The video uploaded on May 6, 2012 has since managed to attract 2 million YouTube views within just two days.

The music video is set in the team’s van during a Harvard baseball team road trip and takes turns letting each player dramatically mock-sing Jepsen’s catchy tune. Some players maintain a stone-faced demeanor, while others have goofy grins plastered on their faces throughout the duration of the music video.

To see these strapping, strong and athletic young guys belt out a girly pop tune is shocking, but equally entertaining. The team does not just lip-synch, but also partakes in some hilarious dance moves. The music video stars Harvard players Jeff Reynolds, Steven Dill, Andrew Ferreira, Marcus Way, Kyle Larrow, Jon Smart and Joey Novak. Despite the fact that his other teammates are giving an emotional musical performance, outfielder Jack Colton is seen throughout the video napping -- check out the back left of the van. The video ends with some hardcore rap that juxtaposes the girly pop ballad the Harvard baseball team were previously crooning.
