With the design done by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the Harvard Art Museum is nearing the end of its expansion project. The result will be a huge pyramid structure atop the already existing building.
Think of the Louvre, except this time the iconic transparent pyramid is now sitting slightly higher up and looks as though it was plopped right in the middle of a museum by helicopter. The additional structure for the Harvard Art Museum will provide more light, 18,500 feet more space and it opens up onto the inner courtyard. The design embodies how art is not just paint on paper, but this extends to industries such as architecture too.
