Photographers Terry Brown and Gordon Stettinus teamed up for the 'Mangini Studio,' a coffee table book that highlights hairstyles through the decades. Brown took the photos (all 51 of them) while Stettinus transformed his hair into each iconic style. His outfits were also specifically chosen to better reflect the time period.
The project was inspired after Stettinus experimented with a shoulder-length wavy hair 'do. The outcome was so hilarious, Brown had to photograph him; from there, the Mangini Studio book was born, covering ill-advised bowl cuts, mullets and dye jobs.
In the book's acknowledgements, Stettinus thanks his wife "her forbearance throughout the various looks that I brought home with me at the end of each day."
