Grubhub announced the Grubhub x Rite Aid partnership to provide on-demand medicine and wellness product delivery services to customers during the time of year with the highest rate of cold and flu infections. While the peak time of year for these infections is between December and February, the CDC reported an early influx of these infections this year in November.
As a result, Grubhub will offer logistics services to help deliver Rite Aid drugstore products to customers. This partnership currently spans more than 2,000 Rite Aid locations in 16 different states across the U.S.A. Grubhub pursued this partnership as a response to community statistics. The company's press release notes that 67% of customers would prefer to order medical supplies when sick, 47% of respondents are unlikely to travel to the drugstore when sick, and 39% of surveyed individuals noted that they will purchase medicine and wellness products in the coming weeks. This points to a high demand for at-home delivery in the drugstore industry.
In the official press release for the partnership, Grubhub states: "Our partnership with Grubhub is another way that we are offering the convenience and access that our customers want and need to keep them and their families healthy and happy," said Dustin Humphreys, senior vice president of digital and e-commerce at Rite Aid. "We also look forward to expanding our reach to Grubhub's loyal customer base and becoming a go-to option for their everyday health and wellness needs."
