Animal Cruelty to Sell Lawnmowers

Offensive Black & Decker Campaign

I really don’t know what Ogilvy & Mather, Bangkok were thinking when they created these disturbing and grotesque ads for the Black & Decker Lawn Mower.

The obvious intent is to show that the lawn mowers are sharp enough to perfectly slice the animals they come across while operating. But what a creepy way to show it, and not to mention, offensive to animal lovers.

I don’t think anyone seeing the internal organs of a frog, lizard or snake would be like, "Wow, I gotta get me one of these Black & Decker lawn mowers and start slicing some animals!"

What really worries me though is finding out in the credits that there are two photographers (Nok Pipattungkul, Anuchai Secharunputong), not illustrators. Does this mean they actually took a photograph of these sliced animals? I so hope that I am wrong.
