Green over Grey, a Vancouver-based company which specializes in plant-based walls and designs, has created the world's tallest indoor vertical plant installation. The 'living wall' is installed in the Desjardins building in Levis, Quebec. The wall, named 'The Currents,' is inspired by the views of the St. Lawrence River visible from Quebec City and Levis.
This lush green structure is 65 meters tall and spans a total area of 198 square meters. It comprises 42 different plant species including philodendrons, fig trees, ginger, elkhorn ferns and banana plants. A total of 11,000 individual plants were incorporated into the design and thoughtfully arranged according to size, color, texture and pattern. The plants are fed by a soil-free hydroponic made entirely from synthetic recycled materials.
Green over Grey is no stranger to building massive plant-based installations, having previously installed North America's largest living wall in Surrey, Canada as well as Canada's largest living roof in Vancouver.
