The Great Reading Tournament, launched by 311Literacy in partnership with Little Bookmates, is an international initiative aimed at enhancing literacy and biliteracy among students across the U.S., Mexico, and the Caribbean. This program, which runs from November 1 to November 23, encourages young readers aged six to 15 to log their reading minutes. The initiative is using the LightSail platform to track reading time, monitor progress, and award prizes.
Designed to nurture a love for reading, the tournament also introduces bilingual materials to help students build language skills and strengthen cognitive abilities. This event also promotes a sense of community, with participants encouraged to support one another. With more than 15,000 students already registered for the event, The Great Reading Tournament offers access to over 10,000 digital titles in both English and Spanish.
