The Gradient Chair may have a simple name, one that might bring to mind a very persistent hair and fashion fad, yet it is much more than that. In fact, 'gradient' may not be the first word that comes to mind when viewing the chair. Instead, it is the Gradient Chair's bulbous form and textured surface that will grab people's attention immediately.
Created by Dutch design studio Joris Laarman Lab, the Gradient Chair looks like something found in the depths of the ocean. The 3D printed microstructures that make up its silhouette could be likened to coral reefs. Currently on display at Friedman Benda in New York, the Gradient Chair is part of the Joris Laarman Lab: Bits and Crafts that is running until June 2014.
