The Ready-to-Wear Fall 2018 fashion show by Libertine features an abundant line of classic Gothic silhouettes juxtaposed with colorful accessory pops and elements of different time periods. Dedicated to a mix of production styles and upcycled pieces, designer Johnson Hartig places 40s and 50s designs with the 20s jazz age scene and a dab of 1980s Lacroix and Ungaro. A true mixture of influences, the collection from Hartig could be justifiably identified as a maximalist range in an era of minimalists.
Incorporating a sequenced portrait of Cher, elongated fringed nails and skull chain necklaces that eerily remind of the Hindu goddess Kali and Her garland of male heads, Libertine successfully adds an exuberant and maximalist take on Gothic silhouettes.
