Google Voice and Hangouts are coming together as one. In a move that bids to better integrate the two communication services, Google announced that Google Voice users will now be able to see voicemail transcriptions and text messages displayed alongside their Google Hangouts conversations.
Users will be able to use their Google Voice account inside Hangouts to reply via text message. This new integration is currently only available on the web and Android, but is set to be introduced to iOS in the near future.
As an added bonus, you can even enjoy free voice calling if you're calling a number in the USA or Canada. You can even take advantage of Voice-over-IP services without Google Voice.
In order to make such calls on Android, all you have to do is download the Hangouts Dialer app which acts as a call-placing shortcut.
