Gerry Judah designed a steel sculpture featuring two soaring Mercedez-Benz cars for the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The cars are suspended 26 meters in the air, arcing over the Goodwood House in West Sussex, UK. They are supported by two curved elements that meet mid-air. Ultimately, the cars look as though they're spurting past each other at break-neck speed. The cars are not insignificant models either; one is a 1934 Mercedes-Benz W25 racing car (currently celebrating its 80th anniversary), while the other is a more contemporary model -- the Mercedez' W04 Formula 1 car that Lewis Hamilton raced in last year's 15 Grand Prix.
The finished sculpture, which was engineered by Capita and erected by Littlehampton Welding, weighs approximately 160 tonnes and stands 90 meters tall.
