Fragile Human Organ Sculptures

Sigga Heimis' Glass Art Sculptures Promote Making Organ Donations

These fairly realistic glass art sculptures by design studio Sigga Heimis are part of a collaboration with 'GlassLab,' made to bring awareness about organ donation. The strange collection of organ-inspired sculptures take the shapes of parts like gigantic eyeballs, hearts, lungs and brains. Although the idea seems a little strange at first, there's something quite poetic about the fragility of the parts that make up a human.

GlassLab is a part of the Corning Museum of Glass that has a "mobile hot glass studio," which allows for rapid prototyping and glass-making. Because this studio makes creating glass sculptures so immediate and accessible, it is no wonder that Sigga Heimis' has had an ongoing partnership with GlassLab since 2007.

These unusual glass sculptures will be on display at Stockholm's Designgalleriet until the 15th of November.
