Surreal Facial Shoots

Giuseppe Mastromatteo Captures Creepy Yet Arresting Minimalist Images

I don't know about you, but I get the shivers every time I glance at Giuseppe Mastromatteo's work. A master of surreal portraits, he captures his subjects in rather fantastical photo shoots.

Born in Italy and based in New York, Giuseppe Mastromatteo became a significant force in the advertising world as a creative director for Euro RSCG New York. Although his ad work is just as impressive as his personal work, I can't help but be drawn to the latter. Clean and crisp, his minimalist aesthetic almost offsets the crazy combinations that he creates.

Giuseppe Mastromatteo also teaches advertising at various significant academic institutions and has collaborated with the Triennale Museum of Milan in the role of art director. His works have been exhibited at the Fabbrica Eos Art Gallery as well as other art fairs.
