Guinness Unveils a New Gingerbread Spiced Stout and Imperial Stout

With the holiday season quickly approaching, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore is helping fans celebrate the season with two new limited-edition beers, the Gingerbread Spiced Stout and Imperial Stout. Both offerings were aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels and arrive "in time for the crisp late fall weather and the hopeful spirit of the holidays."

Sean Brennan, the Senior Brewer at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore, commented on the initiative, stating: "Barrels have been a part of Guinness brewing history for centuries, so we're excited to continue expanding on that tradition by becoming a center for the barrel-aging experience in the U.S. It truly gives us the chance to create, experiment and discover. We brewed Imperial Gingerbread Spiced Stout to evoke the warm, rich flavors of holiday spices, while we knew Imperial Stout needed to be showcased on its own after it was originally brewed as part of the Stock Ale blend last year."

The Guinness Imperial Gingerbread Spiced Stout boasts an 11% ABV and brewed with cinnamon, allspice, ginger, and nutmeg. The new stout pairs well with holiday meals including roasted pork with fig, crème brûlée, and vanilla panna cotta. The Guinness Imperial Stout, on the other hand, features a 10.3% ABV and features notes of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, and coconut with an oak finish. The stout can be paired with ribs, steak, and other savory dishes.
