Manure-Powered Urban Farms

Gastropolis by All That is Solid Converts Methane Into Energy

If you can't wait to see what the future of farming will be, then you're definitely going to want to check out Gastropolis by All That is Solid. Even if you didn't go through a 4H program in high school, you should still check this vertical farm out as All That is Solid has designed a farm that both looks and operates innovatively.

Gastropolis is split into several parts, with certain areas of the structure housing crops, cattle and humans. The cattle portion or, Cow Palace, is the most interesting to me as it has been designed with a grass-covered spiral walkway that lets the cows roam as they please. Perhaps the coolest part of Gastropolis is the planned methane-harvesting room that would take the methane released from the cow's manure and use it to power the structure. With factory farms becoming a bigger and bigger problem to both humans and the environment, I wouldn't be surprised to see farms such as Gastropolis become the norm rather than the exception in the future.
