Caged Animal Jewelry

Fur is Alive by Cecilia Valentine Literally Involves Precious Pets

The Fur is Alive jewelry series isn't simply inspired by people's precious pets, they literally involve them. From caged necklaces holding white mice to live plant bracelets, the creations can be construed as slightly inhumane yet entirely creative. As cramped as the spaces may be for the rodent and bird, it is undeniable that the Fur is Alive designs let in a lot of light and air.

Designed by Cecilia Valentine, the Fur is Alive collection was created for her graduation show at the Rietveld Academy, a design school in Amsterdam. Giving substance to such decoration, the designer writes, "Since we have animals as pets anyway, these designs allow us to take them with us and create truly valuable personal jewellery." Although this may be a unique perspective, it does have a point.
