Tokyo-based design company we+ created a new line of orb-shaped full moon vases. The vases are covered in wax and were made to cast light through their shells, giving it the beautiful glow of a full moon. Toshiya Hayashi and Hokuto Ando collaborated in 2013 to make a new design studio that allowed continued exploration of basic materials being applied in new and exciting ways and this new vase is a perfect example of that.
The vase is shaped like an orb and was made by rotating wax around the surface, allowing the exterior to form naturally. With an LED light installed in the bottom, when this vase is filled with water, it will transform into a beautiful iridescent moon. These new full moon vases can be purchased individually or in multiples, allowing each consumer to create different effects.
