Children as Dolls

Eerie Dramatic Photography

These dramatic photos are the work of Chinese painter and photographer, Zhang Peng.

Peng manipulates the eyes of his child subjects and gives them a 'flawless' appearance, as a comment on the westernized ideals of femininity that are spread through Asian media.

His grotesque distortions make his subjects appear manufactured and doll-like, with chillingly sad eyes that seem to bore deep into your soul.

The image of the little girl dressed as a bride and depicted as being heavily pregnant is especially disturbing.
