In a move to boost forestry tourism, Magic Light Pictures and Forestry Commission England are introducing the augmented reality 'Gruffalo Spotter' app for 2017.
Through the screen of a smartphone, the whole family will be able to visit 26 forests, or "Gruffalo Spotters trails" across England in order to discover woodland creatures, forest facts and augmented reality activities as part of an interactive experience. Kids will be challenged to find specific characters, which can only come to life using the lens of one's smartphone camera.
Alongside offering interactive trail signage and an augmented reality app, the Forestry Commission England is also launching The Gruffalo Spotters Activity Kit, which includes even more fun ways for kids and their parents to interact with the natural surroundings.
