The Food Pharmacy photo series embraces the idea that such natural items can have the healing powers of medicine. Taking on clinical compositions as though the pills and shots of Mother Nature herself, the Food Pharmacy images are as visually stimulating as they are thought-provoking. Although the latter might not be intentional, it is hard not to compare and contrast medical and holistic ideologies and what that entails.
Created by stylist Elin Baarda and photographer Wessel Baarda, who happen to be siblings, the Food Pharmacy photo series revolve around still life sets of test tubes, lab coats and pill boxes juxtaposed with peas, carrots and even chunks of raw meat. Based in Amsterdam and a student at Academie Artemis, Elin says her program covers four disciplines: food, fashion, interior and media.
