Google recently expanded its AI-powered Flood Forecasting tool to all of India, as well as certain areas of Bangladesh. The company initially created the Flood Foracasing tool in 2018, with testing being conducted in Patna. Following the initial testing period Google announced that the tool is now able to make flood predictions for the entire region. Google also partnered with the Water development Board of Bangladesh to expand the initiative.
The Ai Flood Forecasting tool operates by using data taken from a number of rivers in the area to make predictions related to flooding. Google also collaborated with the Central Water Commission in India, as well as the Isreal Institute of Technology and, Bar-IIAN University.
