The Flax Five Light has a natural aesthetic that will appeal to many people, especially since the rustic, organic look is very popular in home decor right now. It will also appeal to people who are environmentally conscious. The Flax Five Light is made locally in The Netherlands from seed to the end product.
Designed by Christien Meindertsma for Thomas Eyck in collaboration with traditional rope maker Touwslagerij Steenbergen and woodworkers Kuperus & Gardenier, the Flax Five Light is a labor of love. Farmers Gert-Jan and Carla van Dongen sowed the seeds that created this lamp back in 2010, and Meindertsma is still using the crop to create more. For now, the first group of Flax Five Lights are currently being exhibited at the Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg and are sold online at Merchant No.4.
