Most people know that Superman can fly through space without the aid of transport, but why not give him something to fly in anyways like in this Eyemelt illustration? Superman isn't the only superhero to get an arbitrary vehicle to drive as Spider-Man, infamous for his use of webs to sling around the city, now has an all-terrain vehicle to ride on rooftops. Crazy, isn't it?
The only illustration in this collection by Eyemelt that isn't ironic is the image of Batman driving in his signature Batmobile, but it isn't nearly as funny as seeing Superman piloting a rocket ship with a pair of fists sticking out of its side.
Implications - Consumers enjoy ironic humor because it gives them an innate sense of superiority, which is empowering for them. Corporations may consider utilizing ironic humor in advertising in order to garner consumer attention as well as to make consumers feel empowered.
