Like its inhabitants, the needs of a home will change over time and Module is a startup that helps to address this with its expandable modular homes. Usually, if there's space available, the only option is to build outwards but Module's system offers such flexibility that the roof on a building can be removed so that another modular unit can be stacked atop the existing home. As Module co-founder and CEO Brian Gaudio describes it, "Just imagine adding another LEGO block."
The inspiration for the idea came from developments in South America, where families expanded homes in small increments as they were able to save up the cash. Gaudio is introducing the concept to the North American market, starting with his Pittsburgh hometown.
