Exactech is an innovative health tech company specializing in developing and producing implants, instrumentation, and smart tech for joint replacement surgery. Today, the company announced the first series of successful surgeries using its Equinoxe® Laser Cage Glenoid -- a "next-generation" shoulder implant that was designed for total shoulder arthroplasty.
The new implant consists of a central bone cage and three peripheral cage pegs, all of which have been 3D-printed and consist of porous titanium material.
"I am impressed by the mechanical strength1* of this unique hybrid design. Mechanical bench testing has demonstrated the remarkable strength of the 3D-printed porous cage pegs, which offer the potential for bone through-growth and better fixation relative to all-polyethylene glenoids," said Dr. Grey of the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies.
