While traditional sun-powered homes feature design aesthetics satisfied by strapping panels to the roof and calling it a day, each part of the Endesa Pavilion Solar House 2.0 was painstakingly crafted to make the most use of the sun possible.
The bizarre, yet intriguing abode was designed by the Insititute of Advanced Architecture for Catalonia and features a jagged exterior with a multitude of peaks and overhangs, specially designed to harness the sun in the winter and block it in the summer. Each panel has been strategically angled to gather as much light as possible in the cold months, and to keep the sun out in the warm months.
Constructed in Barcelona, the home acts as a meeting place for the public and the center of operations for the Smart City Expo.
