The Endemico Resguardo Silvestre retreat recently received the 2012 Best Small Hotel award from Travel & Leisure. Comprised of a contingent of luxury cabins (referred to as EcoLofts), the contemporary hotel is as environmentally conscious as it is ruggedly sophisticated and comfortable.
Designed by Tijuana architectural studio Jorge Gracia, the Endemico Resguardo Silvestre retreat boasts 20 one-room cabins that rest on stilts, dotting a craggy hillside that overlooks a scenic 40-acre winery in Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe. The architects writes, "Part of the philosophy of the project is to respect nature in every possible way." They do so by limiting the space of each cabin to a mere 200 square feet without compromising the comfort of the rooms, which have private terraces and outdoor clay fireplaces.
