Architect and art curator John Stoughton repurposes pictures with emoji art. He adds humor and pop culture into pictures that are otherwise boring and lifeless. He does so by incorporating iPhone emojis into pictures of famous cityscapes that include New York City, Shanghai, Paris and Barcelona, to name a few.
Stoughton was inspired to create the images after he came across the Instamoji app, which essentially lets users insert emojis into their photos. On the contrary, he uses Photoshop for his series and he doesn't just randomly insert the emojis anywhere in the picture; he practically places them to mimic what is already there. For example, he replaced the famous Oriental Pearl Tower in a picture of Shanghai with a geotag emoji and the Eiffel Tower with an emoji that resembles the Parisian landmark.
