This pair of elegant low-cost homes were designed by Costa Rican studio Plup! and they are proof that it is possible to create affordable housing that is simultaneously functional and aesthetically pleasing. These dwellings are located in the jungle, on the slopes of the Barva Volcano.
The architectural studio was mindful of the local climate when designing these buildings. For example, their shape and exterior materials are chosen for their ability to "easily shed water." The materials, on the other hand, are effective and inexpensive. One of the structures is developed for the owner, while the other is intended for hosting guests. The exterior of the elegant low-cost homes is black and the walls are slightly slanted. Both houses boast expansive skylights to allow for an influx of light into the interior.
