Product-Cradling Packaging

This Innovative eCommerce Package Design Requires No Bubble Wrap

The Better with Less design challenge by Metsä Board aims to uncover functional, environmentally friendly and functional packaging solutions—and this year's winning design was submitted into the eCommerce package category.

The winning design called 'Stretching Inner Part' takes the form of a corrugated box with a special inner design that conforms around the small object inside, effectively doing away with the need for bubble wrap or other protective wrapping materials. Since the packaging design is shaped to securely cradle the small object within its form, the box remains attached to the product throughout the shipping process.

The clever, waste-reducing design has the potential to be used for a wide variety of products, as well as scaled for the transportation of larger objects.
