For its line of solid fragrances, New Zealand's Pacific Perfumes created an eco-friendly cosmetic packaging design that's as simple and sustainable as its products. The packaging is made up of recycled paper and twine, arranged in a way that has multiple containers stack securely together.
When the outer packaging layer is removed, the spherical pots themselves are made of sustainable wood, which is ideal for carrying around without worry of spilling. These containers resemble lip balm containers, requiring that the solid scents be applied with a finger. Although this shape could have easily be molded in plastic, the wooden form brings texture and authenticity to the portable perfume container. As a result, this clever cosmetic pacakging design was named a winner at HBA’s International Package Design Awards.
