Berlin's East Side Gallery takes advantage of a historic space and is now the longest open-air gallery in the world. Spanning 1.3 kilometers, this massive outdoor gallery invites visitors to rediscover and explore the art and history of the Berlin Wall. Found on the banks of the Spree in Friedrichshain, the East Side Gallery is featured on the longest continuous section of the Berlin Wall still in existence.
With over 100 paintings, the East Side Gallery plays host to the works of 118 artists from 21 countries. Many of the pieces featured on the wall are focused on political changes in 1989 and 1990 and offer some sort of commentary based on the artist's perspective. Some of the popular images on the wall include Dmitri Vrubel’s 'Fraternal Kiss' and Birgit Kinders’s Trabant 'breaking through the wall.'
